New wheels for the BMW Z4 by AC Schnitzer

The new BMW Z4 is to be launched in May 2009 and comes with a folding hard top, which makes it a Roadster and Coupe in one. The dimensions of BMW Z4 have increased, giving the two-seater a more roomy interior. The vehicle comes with a sports rear silencer and tailpipe trims, suspension optimisation, aerodynamic components and interior accessories.

AC Schnitzer offers brand new wheel and tyre combinations for the new BMW Z4 that come in 18, 19 and 20-inch dimensions.

2014 corvette

GM has announced plans to invest $131 (€88.1) million into the Bowling Green assembly plant to support production of the next-generation Corvette.

Without providing specifics, Chevrolet said the plant will continue to build the current-generation model for "at least the next two model years." This implies the redesigned Corvette won't be launched until the 2014 model year - at the earliest.

According to Mark Reuss, GM President of North America, "This is a significant day for anyone who believes that America should build world-class, high-performance products. [The] Corvette has no domestic peer for performance and pedigree and stands alongside the world's best supercars with almost 60 years of continuous heritage."

As we have previously reported, the Corvette C7 is expected to be smaller and lighter than the current model. There has been speculation that a V6 could be offered, but GM denied those claims and indicated a hybrid is more likely. As for styling, we expect the car will borrow a few cues from the Stingray concept which was prominently featured in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

Bentley Launches China-Only Continental Flying Spur "Linley" Special Edition

China is quickly becoming the ideal place to launch bespoke (…and higher-priced) special edition versions for luxury carmakers. The latest example is Bentley, which will sell just 10 Continental Flying Spurs created in cooperation with British design company Linley.

The Linley limited edition will only be available in what is now Bentley’s biggest market in the world. According to the British carmaker, it “incorporates signature Linley elements that will appeal to customers who value pedigree, lineage, handcrafted quality and peerless design”.

As usual with such editions, the changes compared to the standard Continental Flying Spur are purely cosmetic. The 10 Chinese customers who will opt for a Linley edition of the Flying Spur will get Santos rosewood instead of the “regular” Bentley chestnut or walnut trim covering surfaces like the fascia, console, waist rail and roof console.

The Linley Helix motif is also engraved in the tread plates and throughout the interior in places like the rhodium-plated plaque in the glove box. Unlike the decadent smoke-bashing Westerners, in this China-only edition the best part is reserved for smokers: the rear console is fitted with a Linley-designed box containing a humidor, a cigar cutter and an ashtray.

Finally, since the owner will not be the one driving, he/she and his/her company can enjoy a cool drink thanks to the built-in fridge behind the armrest and rear console with a designated area for bottle storage.
